Brian Scott Peterson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the grandson of Gordon and Mary Margaret Fallis, who were both editors-in-chief of the Tulsa Tribune and the Tulsa Lite and Spotlight, respectively. It was their early introduction of photojournalism and print-making that first piqued his interest in photography.
After attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, he traveled and photographed extensively throughout South-East and Central Asia before relocating to Tokyo, Japan, where he has been based since 2004.
Using both traditional and digital techniques, he exhibits frequently both in Japan and internationally, and has published his work in various magazines and online publications.
He is one also one of the founding members of Magnesium Photos.
